Artwork: The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory
A Re-creation of Dalis earlier piece The Persistence of Memory, with the landscape from the original artwork being flooded with water and the objects in the piece being disintegrated into smaller blocks.
Artist: Salvador Dali
Spanish surrealist painter who's diverse repertoire included sculpture, photography and film. Studying at the School of Fine Arts
in Madrid, Dali was expelled shortly before his final exams after stating that none of the faculty members were competent enough to examine him. Dali met and was greatly influenced by Pablo Picasso, developing his own style, often depicting the events of the world through symbolism in his works. Dalis health began to deteriorate as his near-senile wife Gala began dosing him with a dangerous cocktail of non-prescribed medicine, damaging his nervous system and destroying his artistic ability. After Galas death Dali lost the will to live until finally passing to heart failure in 1989.
