Painted in oil by Klimt in 1907. Danae, from Greek legends, was imprisoned by her father the King of Argos in a tower of bronze. While imprisoned Danae was visited by Zeus which resulted in the birth of her son Perseus, slayer of the Gorgon Medusa.
